Pellissippi State Community College has renewed its gold level sponsorship with Smart Trips.
Their commitment to sustainability is evident to anyone who steps foot on any of the school’s campuses, and an ongoing relationship with Smart Trips fits right in.
The Sustainable Campus Initiative works to engage students, faculty and staff with making Pellissippi as green as possible. With events such as Earth Day, Purge Recycle Day and Vegetarian Day, along with rampant recycling, energy-efficient campuses and community partnerships, the community college is committed to reducing their use of Earth’s resources. Teaming up with Smart Trips fits this bill exactly.
“Pellissippi’s commitment to the environment is obvious, no matter which campus I visit,” said Christi Wampler, Smart Trips program coordinator. “The school makes it easy to participate. Whether it’s sorted trash can for recyclables, water bottle refilling stations or reminders and tips on being green around campus, their efforts are obvious. We love playing a part in this movement.”
Smart Trips helps with the school’s sustainability measures by encouraging and rewarding students and employees for making greener commutes, like carpooling, taking the bus, bikingor walking. But the partnership goes beyond sustainability measures. For students who need help getting to campus, Smart Trips’ free ridematching services can help get the school’s members where they need to be.
In addition to free benefits such as gift card contests and emergency ride home vouchers, PSCC will enjoy custom blog and newsletter articles, promotion on the Smart Trips website and newsletter, cooperative advertisements in local media, help achieving a national clean commute designation, event sponsorships, catered educational sessions, and regular reports showing their emissions prevented, dollars saved, and calories burned.
